Council to hear about eminent domain option for Playhouse
“own attorney John Randolph is expected to report Tuesday to the Town Council on the possibility of acquiring the long-shuttered Royal Poinciana Playhouse and adjacent Celebrity Room by eminent domain.
The council, exasperated with the sluggish pace of negotiations to lease the Playhouse, expressed interest last month in finding ways to press for the re-opening of the venue.
Also at the council’s request, Randolph is expected to report on ways to enforce terms pertaining to operation of the theater in a 1979 property-use agreement between the plaza owners and the town.
