Colorado rejects petition to block incentives for Gaylord Aurora hotel

“The office of Colorado Attorney General John Suthers rejected a petition by local hoteliers Thursday that had sought to overturn state tax incentives awarded last year to the proposed Gaylord hotel and conference center in Aurora, saying the petition was untimely and improper under state law.
Colorado Economic Development Commission (EDC) members, who heard oral arguments about the petition on July 25, will follow the legal direction of Suthers’ office and will not debate the matter further, said Ken Lund, executive director of the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade, which oversees the EDC.
“From my perspective, the attorney general’s weighed in, and we’ll proceed accordingly,” Lund said.”
