City OKs eminent domain measure: Fireworks limits reaffirmed
“City Engineer Deirdre Castillo explained to the City Council that it agenda item 21, a resolution authorizing use of eminent domain to acquire private property needed public right-of-way and associated drainage for the South Valley connector, was needed because time was running short.
Castillo told the City Council that most of the land needed for the
project had long-ago been purchased by the city but a couple of small, privately owned parcels were still needed. She said work on the connector would be conducted in the area of those two parcels by August and that if eminent domain were needed to acquire those parcels, it would take at least a month to get it in front of a judge.”
