Longmont Dillard’s eminent domain case will be heard in late July
“A hearing on whether to grant the city of Longmont immediate possession of the Dillard’s store at Twin Peaks Mall will go to court in late July.
The case has been scheduled to go in front of the Boulder County District Court the week of July 22.
Longmont has asked the court to set a price for the taking of the Dillard’s store in the Twin Peaks Mall. The mall’s owners have planned an $80 million redevelopment, but the store’s existing covenants give it veto power over most of the plans. Negotiations either to buy out Dillard’s or to include the store in the redevelopment fell through this spring.
During those negotiations, Dillard’s representatives proposed a $5 million buyout. The Longmont Urban Renewal Authority offered $3.6 million, according to city officials.”
