County proceeds with eminent domain on Monticello Road
“An item authorizing the use of Eminent Domain to acquire property on Monticello Road was finally settled at tonight’s meeting. The action was deferred from the last meeting so the county staff could exhaust all efforts to resolve the issue without forcibly acquiring the property.
The property, located at 5229 Ridgeway Street, is holding up a road improvement project on Monticello Road due to a retaining wall that is too close to the road and is reducing the width of the existing sidewalk. County staff members have initiated an appraisal of the portion of the property that needs to be altered. The property owner has refused to agree to the designated price and wouldn’t provide any alternate offer so the county proceeded with eminent domain.”
