Eminent domain action eyed in Portage bridge project
“An eminent domain proceeding is being considered as part of the Portage viaduct replacement.
The action may be needed in the town of Portage in Livingston County, Norfolk Southern officials said Monday. The railroad would secure about 3.2 acres to help re-align the tracks for the new bridge.
“There’s no timetable for this yet, but we’re hopeful that we can resolve this without using the eminent domain option,” said NS spokesman David Pidgeon.”
