Waukee delays vote on Alice’s Road land
“The Waukee City Council on Monday delayed a decision to use eminent domain to acquire land needed to expand a road it says is a cornerstone to continued economic growth in Dallas County.
The four members of the council unanimously voted to delay the decision on the Alice’s Road project another week.
The city needs to acquire acres of land between Ashworth Road and University Avenue before it can expand Alice’s Road.
If the resolution had been approved, the city would have moved forward with condemnation procedures.
Under Iowa code, a city is required to make a good faith effort to negotiate the purchase of private property involved in a project before filing an application for condemnation.”
