Longmont may have to give Dillard’s the boot
“The issue will be brought up at the council’s Tuesday meeting. Negotiations between Dillard’s and NewMark Merrill Mountain States, which bought the mall last year, have dragged on for months without resolution. Dillard’s owns the land and building it occupies at the mall, which NewMark Merrill wants to redevelop.
Dillard’s declined to comment to the newspaper about the negotiations or about the possible use of eminent domain.
If the city does exercise its power of eminent domain, Longmont would pay Dillard’s for the property and then sell it to NewMark Merrill for the same price.”
