Jury: County owes $1.24M in eminent domain dispute

“A jury ruled this week that a local land owner was entitled to more than twice what Solano County officials wanted to pay in a 2008 eminent domain action.

The decision came after a two-week civil trial.

At the center of the dispute between the county and the landowner, Michelle Valine, was the value of 82 acres of farmland alongside Interstate 80 in Suisun Valley that the county split with the four-lane Suisun Valley Parkway.

County lawyers argued Valine should be paid about $470,000. Valin’s lawyer said his client deserved more than $1.5 million from the county.”
