Easement OK’d for Delaware Valley school construction project

“The district received confirmation Thursday that the land owner, Konstantinos Ferousis, has accepted an agreement with the school to allow an easement for a driveway to be used only in case of an emergency.

The driveway is part of an abandoned parking lot next to Milford Chrysler that abuts the school property on Route 6/209, where the district plans a $23 million elementary school.

The district had negotiated with Ferousis for more than a year, but could not get a signed contract. The deal was stalling the school construction project.

The parties have agreed that, after the school is built, the school will make a $10,000 payment for the easement and then pay $2,000 a year for 15 years, for a total of $40,000, district Business Manager William Hessling said.

The district needs a conditional use approval from Milford before it can break ground. If the approval comes soon, 2013-14 will be the final year for the current elementary school at the high school campus”
