West Haven property owner fighting land grab; eminent domain battle now focuses on value of parcel

“A landowner’s claims that the city unlawfully took property through eminent domain for a magnet school won’t derail the school’s construction, now that a judge has struck down the allegations.

Radio Communications Corp., the final holdout in the eminent domain proceedings, last month filed a request in Superior Court in Milford for an injunction in an attempt to keep its three parcels. After a hearing with testimony from both sides, a judge denied the motion, and the city took control of the property.

However, Radio Communications Corp. can still fight for a better settlement, and had been asking for $2 million for 506 and 516 Orange Ave. and 23 Daytona St.”
