Caldwell Prepared to Use Eminent Domain to Take Over Large Portion of Pioneer Irrigation District
“Caldwell Mayor Garett Nancolas told the Press-Tribune that his office has received phone calls that “have been 20-1 in favor” of the city’s lawsuit, which the mayor called the city’s “last resort.”
The dispute between Caldwell and the Pioneer district over irrigation drainage rights dates back to 2008. The Press-Tribune reports that each side has “spent more than $2 million in legal fees” to date.”
