Water agency agrees to use eminent domain in seeking water transmission line
“Representatives of American Lake Water argue, however, that the water agency’s ability to lower water rates would be limited, plus they say the process of eminent domain is costly.
“An eminent domain takeover of the American Lake Water pipeline will involve local governments in a legal battle that will take years to resolve and cost taxpayers millions of dollars,” Michael Smyth, a senior manager with Illinois American Water, said in a statement. Illinois American Water, a subsidiary of American Lake Water, distributes water through the transmission line.”
