Aurora to vote loan of up to $4 million for Fanfare property
“Aurora’s Urban Renewal Authority on Monday will vote on a proposal to receive a loan of up to $4 million from the city’s water department — a move that takes Aurora a step closer to purchasing the blighted Fanfare building.
After AURA’s vote on the proposal, the City Council will meet and either accept or deny it.
Some City Council members have argued that by purchasing and demolishing the Fanfare, Aurora could help to redevelop the area around East Third Avenue and Havana Street. However, some council members have called the deal a “bailout” of the developer by the city.”
