Faced with being displaced to make way for new school

Mrs. Truckenbrod said she shouldn’t be forced to sell her family’s land in a down market. She was hoping to hold onto the land for at least five more years to sell for a good price once her daughter’s family was more settled financially and the grandchildren were older. If she does sell the home she wants to use the profits to save for her retirement. And she never wants to sell the 83-year-old family home to someone who will just bulldoze it down.
Although she understands the district’s interest, she said she must look out for her family. She said the situation was more difficult because the district had passed on the four-parcel site and announced it was going to build on the Freitag property. But, she said, the relief was short-lived when the district found it could not build on the floodplain.
