PISD board gets behind eminent domain move
“The Plainview Independent School District Board of Trustees has decided to join what appears to be the majority of Texas school districts and protect their rights to seize property under eminent domain.
According to PISD attorney Rudd Owen, the Texas Legislature enacted a law requiring school districts to file documentation with Texas Comptroller Susan Combs related to its power of eminent domain by Dec. 31.
If the districts fail to do so by the deadline, the school loses the power of eminent domain on Sept. 1, 2013.”
