The Inland Empire housing crisis, eminent domain and the public interest

In discussions about using eminent domain to lower what local families owe on their homes, much has been said about investors who might make or lose money. That perspective is largely an argument for Wall Street types. Others have questioned whether the process should ever be used. That viewpoint is mostly about political beliefs. What has been missing is an analysis of whether this approach is in the Inland Empire’s public interest, given that our deep recession will not end until the mortgage crisis is over.
