At the 8 August 2012 meeting Tracy Huggins, executive director of the Denver Urban Renewal Authority (DURA) provided the Welton Corridor Plan Proposal and accompanying Blight Study documentation.
Items Discussed:
- Over the next 25 years DURA will be able to declare eminent domain on any of the 245 properties with in the 85 acre site regardless of the specific property condition.
- Although they have been working on this proposal since 2010 DURA has not received any developer interest for this project.
- The master plan is incomplete and does not encompass the entire site area from 20th street to Downing and is vague in scope, economics and neighborhood impact.
- The Blight Study is one consultants opinion and did not incorporate historical factual data such as neighborhood inspection reports or violations.
