Denver City Council approves Arapahoe Square Redevelopment Plan

“Though the council ensured the approved plan authorizes the use of tax increment financing, no tax increment area was set for the 93-acre site. Individual projects will be brought forward and, upon approval from DURA and the City Council, will create “project-specific tax increment areas,” according to the release.

Huggins said there aren’t any projects, with DURA involvement, proposed or currently in construction in the area. Denver-based developer Zocalo is currently building a 231-unit multi-family development at 2020 Lawrence.

As far as putting out requests for proposals for projects, Huggins said a plan will be developed after Denver Mayor-elect Michael Hancock takes office July 18 and Ken Lund takes over as head of Colorado’s Office of Economic Development Aug. 1.”
