Boston Convention Center to Take Land by Eminent Domain
“The Massachusetts Convention Center Authority has plans to take by eminent domain a D Street parcel for $33 million in hopes of partnering with a developer to build a hotel and parking garage as the South Boston exhibit hall looks to expand, the Herald has learned. The 5.5-acre site, located across the street from the rear of the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center, is owned by Intercontinental Real Estate Corp., which bought the undeveloped property for $22 million seven years ago. The Boston-based real estate investment firm had approved plans to build a large residential complex.”
