“Since Eric Sutherland first stepped into a courtroom about five years ago, he’s represented himself in at least nine lawsuits for pennies on the dollar compared to his taxpayer-funded opponents.
Through mid-June, those government agencies have spent more than $910,529 on litigation involving the Fort Collins community activist since 2014 — and those costs are expected to increase with ongoing litigation and appeals.
Sutherland single-handedly delayed construction of three new schools in Fort Collins and Wellington and delayed construction projects in Timnath through courtroom challenges of projects either directly or tangentially tied to local agencies’ use of Colorado urban renewal laws.
But a recent court ruling could put an end to Sutherland’s self-representation.”
