Second well being considered in Creston
“The Village of Creston is attempting to acquire land for the construction of a second municipal well.
The village board held a public hearing earlier this month to discuss acquiring land for the well by eminent domain.
John Zwingman, village engineer from Advanced Consulting and Engineering Services, said the project is in the planning stages.
“We’re in the test well stages. After they get the test well, they should be able to get some funding” through USDA Rural Development, he said. The cost of a new municipal well can be about $400,000.
Zwingman said the backup well may become the main well for Creston at some point.”
