Fort Collins council rejects eminent domain proposal
“The Fort Collins City Council on Tuesday slammed the brakes on the possible use of eminent domain, at least in the immediate future, to acquire land needed for improvements at the intersection of College Avenue and Prospect Road.
Council members voted down on final reading of an ordinance that would have authorized city staff to negotiate with owners of two residential properties to acquire right of way needed to rebuild the intersection.
Eminent domain would have been used as a last resort if negotiations between the city and property owners failed, city staff members said.”
