Canceled blight hearing rouses further suspicion in central Ogden
“Tuesday night’s blight hearing cancellation notice and locked front doors to city hall did little to build trust between city officials and residents who live within the nine-block inner-city area in question.
The 84-acre Oak Den Urban Renewal Area stretches from 23rd to 26th Streets between Madison and Jackson Avenues. Receiving an official blight designation would allow the city to apply for federal funding to assist in renovations, and it could also open the door to use eminent domain to acquire property from unwilling sellers.”
