Board To Review FAA Grant Application For Taxiway B
“When the Big Bear Airport District board of directors meets Wednesday, Nov. 12, one of the first items under discussion is expected to be an application to the Federal Aviation Administration regarding airport improvement program funding in fiscal year 2015. Included on that list is a plan for an environmental assessment for the parallel taxiway B extension project.
The Airport Development Committee, comprised of board members Julie Smith and Steve Baker, met Nov. 5 to review the documents. Before the review, Smith read a statement for the record regarding what she called rumors that were spread during the recent election campaign. “I want to be explicit,” Smith said. “There is no plan now nor in the future to use eminent domain to build taxiway bravo or any other project associated with the airport.”
Smith said information to the contrary is “a complete fabrication.” “I am extremely disappointed that in local elections we have candidates that would create fear to try to gain election.””
