Hearing on eminent domain in Olivette is next week
“Old Bonhomme Road property owners who oppose Olivette’s plan to use eminent domain to acquire small slices of their front yards will have the chance to speak at a hearing next week.
The hearing will be during the Olivette City Council meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Olivette City Hall. That’s when the council will have its second reading of a bill authorizing eminent domain against property owners who refuse to sell. The first reading was at the council’s meeting Tuesday.
In 2011, the city received nearly $2 million in federal funding for street resurfacing, stormwater upgrades and wider sidewalks on a 1.9-mile stretch of Old Bonhomme Road from Olive Boulevard to North Price Road. City officials say the sidewalks are too narrow to meet federal Americans With Disability Act requirements.”
