Manatee attorney advises no concessions on Long Bar settlement offer
“The Manatee County Attorney’s Office is expected to recommend Tuesday for the Manatee County Commission to stand by its decision last year involving development plans at Long Bar Pointe.
County attorneys are advocating a written settlement offer that does not give any concessions or compromises to developers of the southwest county property overlooking Sarasota Bay, according to county documents.
The settlement offer declares the board position: “No changes to the action of the government entity.”
An accompanying statement setting allowable uses indicates county Comprehensive Plan policies do not inordinately burden the developer’s property, wrote County Attorney Mickey Palmer.
Developers of Long Bar Pointe are attempting to reverse a decision by the Manatee County Commission that effectively killed their waterfront vision for the 463.2-acre property.
In August, Medallion Home President Carlos Beruff and Barrington Group’s Larry Lieberman hired eminent domain expert attorney S. William Moore to serve the county with a Bert J. Harris Private Property Rights Protection Act claim.”
