Law office not in study area

“Along with ongoing concerns about eminent domain, questions about why a prominent legal office isn’t included among Mount Airy sites under study for possible blighted-area designation emerged Wednesday.

The omission of the Gardner & Gardner law offices on Franklin Street was mentioned during a meeting of the city redevelopment commission. It was highlighted by a debate between members of the group and affected citizens about why certain properties were included and others weren’t.

Raising the issue about Gardner & Gardner was Charles Paul, who is associated with Paul Painting and Decorating Co., owner of three of 21 parcels included in a redevelopment study area along with others in the same vicinity — but not the law office.”
